South Charlotte Life Group from Forest Hill Church

MONROE, NC – On September 19, a South Charlotte Life Group from Forest Hill Church adopted a shelter party at Turning Point of Union County.  This giving group of women arrived with beautiful bouquets of flowers and dozens of cupcakes, along with cheerful decorations and party supplies, ready to celebrate two birthdays for moms and their children.  19 kids and 16 women from the shelter attended the party, where they enjoyed outdoor fun and games, an art and coloring table, and face painting.  A shelter social worker explained to volunteers how much the residents had been looking forward to the party all week long, especially the daughter of a birthday mom who spent the prior evening carefully selecting her “party dress” for mommy’s special day.

The celebration was filled with plenty of smiles, singing, gifts, and goody bags, and was topped off with a classic game of bust-the-pinata.  McDonald’s franchise owners Tony and Elena Ramos fed the happy and hungry crowd, and the couple has generously pledged to donate Birthday Blessings party meals at Turning Point once per quarter.
