CHARLOTTE, NC – The families living at YWCA’s Families Together Program took their second annual party-and-play road trip on July 9 to Central Piedmont Community College, where we celebrated the birthday of sweet 16-year-old Bria. Reporter Julie Rose from WFAE 90.7 FM even came along for the ride and joined in our birthday Fun.

Listen to Julie’s  report here and get an insider’s perspective on this heartwarming party.

CPCC’s Baking and Pastry Arts Club generously provided bagged lunches, drinks, fruit, chips, and even Silly Bands for everyone, which was a huge hit!  After the stars of CPCC’s summer theater production sang a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday” to Bria, she blew out all 16 candles on her white-frosted birthday cake covered in sprinkles made with care by the school’s culinary students.

After lunch, the 20 party-goers were treated to a matinee production of  “A Year with Frog and Toad” at CPCC’s Overcash Theater.

What a great day everyone had! Happy 16th birthday, Bria!
