Girlfriends party with a purpose

CHARLOTTE, NC – We are grateful to Towanda Long for hosting a “Give-Together” party for her girlfriends, all in the name of the homeless children and families served by Birthday Blessings. She cooked dinner, and asked her friends to bring gifts for a tween girl.

Said Towanda: “I think about how hard being a tween or teen girl can be, and add to that the issues that arise from being homeless. These children absolutely need the chance to celebrate their life, to know that they are not forgotten and that their life is priceless.

“Before I learned of Birthday Blessings, I never thought of a child not celebrating their birthday,” said Towanda. “The thought of that breaks my heart because birthdays are such a huge deal in my house. My girls look forward to their birthdays like most kids look forward to Christmas.”

Towanda and her girlfriends collected over 125 gifts, ranging from lip gloss and shower gels to hair accessories, journals, and stationery sets. Way to go, Towanda and company, and thanks for your support!
