Make it a Happy Year for homeless children

“A Happy New Year!  Grant that I
May bring no tear to any eye
When this New Year in time shall end,
Let it be said I’ve played the friend,
Have lived and loved and labored here,
And made of it a happy year.”
~ Edgar Guest, American poet

Make 2011 a Happy Year for homeless children
Bless-A-Birthday.  Bless-A-Baby.  Give the gift of joy and support to children struggling through homelessness.  As you reflect on the joys in your life and the blessings of 2010, please consider giving the gift of joy to a child in need by making a tax-deductible year-end contribution to Birthday Blessings. Make your secure online donation here.
Bless-A-Birthday  To date, Birthday Blessings has given the gift of birthday joy and recognition to over 1,500 homeless children across the greater Charlotte community.     Through our birthday program, thousands of children living in transient situations, emergency shelters, and transitional housing facilities have received meals, educational and enrichment activities, comfort and care essentials, new books, and of course birthday cake and presents!
After blowing out candles on his birthday cake, a seven year old homeless boy quickly asked volunteers to relight them so he could do it again.  He was proud and grinning from ear to ear–
It was his first birthday celebration ever.
Bless-A-Baby  In 2010 our Blessing Baskets program took shape and began widely impacting the lives of babies entering homelessness.  Baskets filled with health, comfort and care items have welcomed the arrival of more than 200 local homeless babies, providing for their emergent needs and giving each child a healthy and positive start to life.    A homeless mother who left the hospital with her newborn and went  “home”  to an emergency shelter cried when she received her Blessing Basket sayting, “God showed up just in time.”  It was hope in a basket.
Please consider making 2011 a happy year for our community’s homeless children.  Make your tax-deductible contribution TODAY.

A twelve year old homeless girl sent a hand made card to Birthday Blessings thanking us for “the love and attention showed” at her birthday party.  Turns out the gift that meant the most to her wasn’t wrapped at all.
