ROCK HILL, SC – We are pleased to now be serving our second homeless facility in York County with monthly birthday celebrations! The Children’s Attention Home is a 24-hour emergency shelter and long-term residential facility for children who find themselves homeless due to abuse, neglect, and/or abandonment.

On August 28, Birthday Blessings Volunteer Party Coordinator Tammy Thompson, along with her family and the Stacey, Gardner, and Ennis families, helped host a Back-to-School Birthday Bash,  celebrating August birthdays with 30 children and five staff members at the Children’s Attention Home.

Mad Scientist Steelie with Mad Science, a long-time Program Support Partner of Birthday Blessings, entertained the boisterous bunch with her scientific expertise and crowd-pleasing experiments, and our adopt-a-party group provided cupcakes and ice cream. Our three special birthday guests of honor received their gift packages and goodies, as they were showered with lots of recognition and attention!

And, to ensure none of the children missed a birthday spotlight this year, a birthday fun bag was given to each child whose special day came before Birthday Blessings arrived.   As always, each of our party guests received a treat sack, along with a new book to help kick off the start of a new school year.

Tammy has also delivered five Blessing Baskets over the past month to new babies arriving to the Children’s Attention Home, giving each child a healthier and more positive start to life.

Said Tammy:  We had a great time with the children at Children’s Attention Home. The Mad Scientist was the highlight of the party, and she engaged the birthday kids to be her assistants. Some experiments went a little wacky, but it was ‘mad’ science after all! It was awesome to see the children all having fun. Several are anxiously awaiting their September birthday celebration.”

Birthday Blessings to serve residents of three additional homeless facilities

We look forward to launching our Shelter Party and Blessing Baskets programs at the Children’s Attention Home in Rock Hill, SC, and for homeless families served by the Samaritan House Night Shelter at the Salvation Army of Cabarrus County, as well as the Mothers & Children Housing Ministry in Concord, bringing us up to a total of 14 homeless facilities across a four-county region served by our incredible staff of dedicated volunteers.

York County, SC – The Children’s Attention Home is an emergency shelter and long-term residential facility for children who become homeless due to being victims of abuse, neglect, and/or abandonment. This 42-bed facility houses children and youth of all ages, from babies up to teens and young adults.  Birthday Blessings programs will begin in August with the delivery of Blessing Baskets for babies and birthday parties held on site at the Home, bringing positive emotional experiences to children experiencing the isolating effects of homelessness due to separation from parents.

Cabarrus County, NC – Birthday Blessings will begin serving the residents of the following Cabarrus County facilities in July, with monthly celebrations that lift spirits, boost confidence, and help support basic needs:   The Salvation Army Family Shelters program is designed to provide food and emergency or transitional housing families in need, and works with clients to help them transition into a more permanent housing situation. At Samaritan House Night Shelter, families find a comfortable place to stay with warm beds, meals, and services needed, in a safe and encouraging environment.

The Mothers & Children Housing Ministry is an emergency and transitional housing program for mothers and children who have become homeless or are in eminent danger of being homeless.  The home is a safe place for families, a caring environment to grow in, an opportunity to regain stability, and offers the resources to become independent, all providing hope for the future.

We at Birthday Blessings believe every child’s life deserves to be recognized and celebrated, regardless of their circumstances, and we look forward to bringing joy and offering support to all of the children living at these facilities.

Stay tuned for more information on how you can get involved.
