Hats off to …

… the middle-schoolers at Covenant Day School for participating in a week-long school donation drive.  This ambitious group of youth collected 341 items, which consisted of candy, juice boxes, cookies, party favors, decorations and over $200 in monetary donations.  To cap off their donation drive, 20 kids and 5 adults participated in a morning of service at our offices, where they organized our new “Gift of Literacy” Library, filled party favor bags for classroom parties, logged and sorted donations and wrapped gifts.

…. members of the Charlotte Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority for collecting over 100 new birthday gifts, wrapping supplies and gift cards at a recent chapter event.

MOPS of Fort Mill (Mothers of Preschoolers) for their tremendous generosity with a recent collection effort.  This group of moms collected a total of 280 items, including gifts, party supplies, baby care products, and cookies and juice for our classroom parties program!

Thanks to everyone for their support!

Your Event Source and Wolfman Pizza sponsor monthly shelter parties

CHARLOTTE, NC – We are proud to announce our newest sponsor, Your Event Source, a local business donating $25,000 in services this year to our shelter party program.  Each month, YES and Wolfman Pizza have pledged to provide the entertainment and food at one of the 11 homeless facilities served by Birthday Blessings.

On March 18, Birthday Blessings and Wolfman Pizza kicked off this new partnership at the YWCA Families Together Program, where we celebrated the birthdays of a 15-year-old, a 3-year-old and two 2-year-olds.  YES wowed the crowd by setting up three gigantic inflatables, along with a spray tattoo station.

Volunteer party coordinator Katie Oleson said: “The families truly enjoyed being able to play together.  The parents get so much joy from watching their children have fun and being able to join in.  Wolfman Pizza was definitely a hit, and the pastel-colored icing on the cupcakes [provided by Edible Art] helped set the spring atmosphere!’

MAC swim team supports Student Birthdays Program

CHARLOTTE, NC – On March 16, the Fireball swim team from Mecklenburg Aquatic Club headed out to Monkey Joe’s in Pineville to celebrate the end of their season and participate in a service project on behalf of Birthday Blessings.

Our Student Birthdays Volunteer Program Manager, Terri Springer, gave a short presentation to the team and their parents, and the fun-filled evening was rounded out with the group assembling classroom party kits and goodie bags.  “They were having fun as they did it and were very respectful,” said Terri Springer.  “They brought in all kinds of goodies!”

This caring group of kids donated 120 party favors and supplies, in addition to filling 58 goodie bags.

“These homeless children, who have so little, get a huge boost of self-esteem by having their birthday celebrated with their friends and, for one day, being givers to their friends,” said Dave Zatz, the parent who organized this important service project.

Go Fireballs, and thanks for your support!

Crumbs for a Cause is a sweet treat to Birthday Blessings

CHARLOTTE, NC – When Cameron Green read about Birthday Blessings in Today’s Charlotte Woman in May 2009, she was genuinely moved by our mission. “I remember Amy sharing about a 7- or 8-year-old that never had birthday cake, which is so sad, but such a fixable problem,” said Cameron.  “I think that’s why Birthday Blessings captivated me.”

So Cameron put her love of baking together with her love for Birthday Blessings, and hence, Crumbs for a Cause was born.

Now, here’s the best part (aside from the fact that her desserts are to DIE FOR!)…Cameron donates 50% of her profits to Birthday Blessings!

“Cameron wanted to do something that she enjoyed and something that would make a positive difference in today’s world,” said Cameron’s husband and business partner, Devin Green.  “Having a birthday party can really have a meaningful impact on a kid’s outlook on life.”

Place your order for your next dinner party or event, and get ready to be wowed!
