Volunteer Spotlight: Elizabeth Nickles

Introducing Mrs.  Elizabeth Nickles!  Elizabeth Nickles is Birthday Blessing’s volunteer party coordinator for Florence Crittenton.  Elizabeth has been with Birthday Blessings since March of 2010.  Elizabeth is a happily married mother of two “babies!”.  Her family relocated from Virginia Beach two years ago.

While having family fun at Monkey Joe’s with her two beautiful children (Faith and Will) early this year, Mrs. Nickles took notice of a fundraiser Birthday Blessings was holding at the location.  Elizabeth loved the organization’s purpose (Birthday Blessings aims to provide positive emotional experiences for homeless children and their families by lifting spirits, promoting self-worth, and supporting basic needs) and knew she wanted to be involved.

Elizabeth has been doing a fantastic job making these parties successful.  One of the mothers at Florence Crittenton told her that the “Blessing Baskets are awesome and really do help” us!  Blessing Baskets are given to babies and new mothers born into homelessness.  They contain essentials like onesies, formula, diapers, bottles, pacifiers and baby powder.

Adopt-a-party group parties with residents of Florence Crittenton Services of NC

CHARLOTTE, NC – On January 28, Birthday Blessings volunteers celebrated with the residents of Florence Crittenton Services and Sarah’s House, a transitional housing program for young mothers and their children.  The group celebrated  birthdays  for  two teens and one tot,  and showered a mom-to-be with a  Blessing Basket to help  welcome and support the arrival of her baby.

But now for the party details…volunteers got the party started with a special jewelry-making session, while Mister Twister jumped right in with twisting his beautiful balloons, including a  a colorful hat measuring 4 feet tall for the birthday girl!  The kids were treated to  balloon swords and had fun dueling  the night away.

Longtime Birthday Blessings volunteer Torie Jacobitz and volunteer party coordinator Tamika Bease led our youngest party-goers in custom designing their own sippy cups.  Bailey Dunmire, district manager for Wolfman Pizza (one of our loyal sponsors); Suzi Allora of Suzi Skinny Cakes (thanks for the yummy cupcakes!); and Janet Haas, Birthday Blessings community outreach and media relations representative, and their children were on hand to decorate, serve cake and juice, hand out goodie bags, and celebrate together in Florence Crittenton’s dining room. It was another fun-filled Birthday Blessings party for all!

What a great night!
