Birthday Blessings founders named Citizens of the Year

If you know John and Amy Cervantes, you know first-hand why they were honored by the Mint Hill Rotary Club as its Citizens of the Year.  All of us at Birthday Blessings couldn’t be prouder of this caring, enthusiastic couple!

John and Amy founded Birthday Blessings as a family service project at the Salvation Army Center of Hope in 2005 because they wanted to teach their children lessons in giving back to others. Soon, their family, friends and congregation hopped on their Birthday Blessings bandwagon, and today, their nonprofit serves 11 homeless facilities and over 30 schools every month!

Amy, our volunteer executive director, and John, who serves as the vice-chair on our board of directors, work tirelessly every day to forward our mission and reach more homeless children and families, in addition to parenting three busy boys.

So, we offer our congratulations to John and Amy, and we thank you for making such a lasting impact in our community.

Birthday Blessings and Guys With Ties fundraiser featured on WCNC

CHARLOTTE, NC – Watch here, as Larry Sprinkle interviews our co-founder John Cervantes about our programs and about how Birthday Blessings was born.  This segment aired on News Channel 36 on May 13, 2010.

We owe a big thank you to Guys With Ties, also mentioned in this segment, who hosted a May 17 fundraiser at Chima Brazillian Steakhouse in the name of the homeless children we serve.  Thanks to everyone who came out to support Birthday Blessings as they enjoyed a fun night out for a cause!
